Hello and welcome to Bake and Brunch!

My name is Carsen and I am a 20-something year old with a passion for life, love, happiness, and most of all, FOOD.

My relationship with all of the above hasn’t always been so great, which is why I want to inspire others to live the absolute best and most fulfilling lives they possibly can.

Why Did You Start This Blog?

Like I said, I didn’t always have a great relationship with life, myself, and especially food.

When I was in high school, I suffered from orthorexia. Orthorexia is an eating disorder which the person suffers from an extreme obsession and compulsion to eat only what they see as “clean food.”

For almost three years, I only ate what I considered “clean” and would have severe anxiety if I was put in a situation where this was not an option.

Eventually, I broke down to my parents and received the help I so desperately needed. Going to counseling was by FAR the best decision I have ever made.

Life is so much different now and I am more in love with food than I ever could have imagined.

I consider myself a breakfast professional and a total brunch snob. Nothing makes me happier than waking up on a weekend morning, making coffee and creating a gorgeous morning meal.

I pride myself on the fact that I follow my heart and I do what TRULY fulfills me. I choose to follow what drives my soul.

What Will I Find On This Blog?

Here you can find beautiful, (mostly) healthy, and delicious recipes for breakfast, brunch, and sweet baking treats.

I take an approach of Intuitive Eating which is something I want to get more people in tune with. Intuitive Eating, at it’s core, is the idea that you listen to your body’s cues for hunger and fullness, as well as listening to it to figure out what you’re ACTUALLY craving to eat.

It’s about choosing the cookie over the fruit for a snack because the cookie is what you really want, and eating a salad when your body is telling you “GIVE ME SOME VEGETABLES.”

I want to make it clear that you will never see the words “clean eating”, “diet ___” or any other term like that on this blog.

I want this blog to be a place where you can find a recipe that is both good for your body, and for your soul. No overthinking about food, just eating it.
